I am passionate about the power of higher education to promote human values—not just in students’ lives but also in business, nonprofits, and government.
My scholarship focuses on the ethical dimensions of communication, language, and influence. I hold a PhD from Loyola University Chicago, and I am completing a MTS in Christian Ethics at the University of Notre Dame in May of 2022. I joined the Notre Dame community in 2016 and currently serve as the Associate Director of the Notre Dame Deloitte Center for Ethical Leadership at Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, and in 2017 I received the Mendoza Dean’s Award for Outstanding Commitment and Service. As a Term Assistant Teaching Professor, I also teache courses in both ethics and communications. My writing has appeared in scholarly journals, such as Renascence, Philosophy and Literature, and Literature and Theology. And my writings for a general audience have appeared in the Washington Post, Scientific American, and the Los Angeles Review of Books. I am the co-author of the forthcoming book O’Hara’s Heirs: Business Education at Notre Dame, 1921-2021 and I am also working on a book tentatively titled What Good Means: The Moral Imagination of Gerard Manley Hopkins. I live in South Bend, In, with my wife, Anne, and our three children.
